Our History!
In 1951, John Willard and Alice Marriott purchased Fairfield Farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and that is where the inspiration began! After enjoying the farm for many years with its beauty and tranquility, they opened the very first Fairfield Inn in 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia. Their goal was to create a hotel that gave each guest the same feeling of tranquility they felt when on the farm. By 2003, Fairfield Inn started to expand around the globe and by 2008, the 500th hotel opened. The expansion was no surprise as guest enjoy the calm, simplicity, warm, and family-friendly persona the hotel portrays as soon as you arrive.It was no surprise the Ehrhardt family wanted to purchase Fairfield Inn in St. Robert Missouri after stepping foot in the doors and feeling the rich history mentioned above. Fort Wood Hotels originally was established as Ehrhardt Properties by Spike and Steve Ehrhardt, a father-son company that epitomizes success on a foundation of values, hard work, and treating employees fairly. Our 79-room Fairfield Inn by Marriot opened in the Spring of 1998 and was purchased by Steve Ehrhardt in March 2002. It was the first new hotel in the area since the early 1990’s. The Fairfield Inn was completely remodeled in early 2015 and features spacious guestrooms, well-lit desks, and the most modern of amenities.

Our employees are family and they are what make our hotel so special. We pride ourselves on our "Ozark Hospitality" that keep our guest coming back time and time again. In fact, Fairfield Inn, one of our Fort Wood Hotels is one of the best places to work and our employees agree. We have several longtime employees like our General Manager, Roxan McAlmont, and employee Ron Farmer that have been at the hotel since it first opened. Once an employee joins our team they say it feels like home and love where they work which ends up getting relayed to the guest with superb customer service.
