Part of our business foundation is serving our community. We strive in every way to continue this effort and go above and beyond for the people in the area we live in. Fort Wood Hotels gives back to the local community in many ways, sponsorships, educational programs, donations, and much more. Here are a few events you can find our team participating in.
Sponsorships
Polar Chili Cook-Off
Polar Chili Cook-Off is a great event to raise money towards a local scholarship the Right Choice Scholarship. The Right Choice Scholarship is a scholarship given out to individuals that apply through the chamber of commerce. The recipients must be able to demonstrate their leadership skills and academic proficiency that would show they will succeed at their next level of education. Fort Wood Hotels enters a team every year at the Polar Chili Cook-Off. This fun event has a different theme every year and businesses come from all over to compete for the best chili recipe. Live entertainment keeps the crowd having fun while voting with cash on their favorite chili recipe. This great event gives back to our local community. One of our goals is to be active in local programs that also give back to the community.
Chamber Luncheon Sponsorship
Chamber luncheon programs are great ways to learn about community events and a great way to meet other business professionals. Fort Wood Hotels continues to support the local Chamber of Commerce in all of their community efforts. Our business is excited to host these luncheons from time to time and showcase our properties to others in the community. You will always find a Fort Wood Hotels employee at the Chamber luncheons to support our local businesses.
Educational Programs
Leadership Pulaski County
Leadership Pulaski County is a great program for the entire community. This program is sponsored by the Chamber as an educational opportunity for professionals in the local community. You will spend months with the same group of community leaders to learn more about the great area we work and live. It is a great networking opportunity as well as an opportunity to learn about the area in a new way. We strongly support this effort and we send a manager every year to participate in this amazing educational program.
Choices Program
The goal of the Choices program is connecting with students and showing them there are many things to consider when planning their futures. The Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Pulaski County collaborate on the program to help young students understand what options their futures could hold. A core principle taught during this participatory classroom seminar is self-discipline. They help students understand the impact their choices have on their future and how to control those choices. This amazing program not only educates students but helps show them the opportunities they have in the workforce when they graduate. Fort Wood Hotels has a vested interest in shaping young minds to become future leaders. We love to teach others and hopefully, one day we will have the opportunity to work with them.
Donations
Fort Wood Hotels donates to many different organizations throughout the year. We know the value of fundraisers and what it can accomplish for a group, organization, charity or any needed community cause. It is just another way we are able to give back to those in the area and make this community great. One of our donations is towards the Taste of Pulaski County which is the Chambers largest fundraisers but also provides a day of family fun.
Taste of Pulaski Basket Auction and Membership Social
This local Chamber of Commerce event started in 1998 as a Chamber fundraiser. This event continues to grow every year making is one of the most successful Chamber events. Local restaurants have the opportunity to join in on the event to showcase their food to the locals in the area. Every year there is a different theme and more and more fun added. Fort Wood Hotels loves to donate every year to the silent auction portion as our way of supporting the Chamber. This event brings many businesses together and showcases some of the area's best food!
