Fort Wood Hotels Gives Back to Heroes Thanking Heroes Salute to Summer
"To Serve...Our Guest, our Community, and Each Other" This is our mission at Fort Wood Hotels and we truly work hard to stand by this! We have been serving guests and communities in and around the Fort Leonard Wood since 1999 and we believe that our community involvement is a major factor that contributes to our success. In an effort to give back to our community a recent sponsorship that we participated in was an event that took place in July by Heroes Thanking Heros at the Bow & Barrel Sportsmen Center. What is Heroes Thanking Heroes?
The Heroes Thanking Heroes provides a six-month transitional part-time, flexible employment to wounded veterans or their primary caregivers, enabling them to make phone calls from their homes, most often to personally thank donors for their contributions to the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. The program also offers qualified participants some basic training and experience working in a “virtual call center,” thereby preparing them for other potential jobs requiring similar skills.2019 Salute to Summer Event
Our sponsorship, as well as many other generous local business, with Heroes Thanking Heroes, helped to support their summer fundraising event in St.Robert, Mo hosted by the Bow & Barrel Sportsmen Center.
There was an Iron Buck Archery Competition where shooters took aim and had a great time! Competitors included community members and wounded veterans, J.D. Williams, Tim Alexander, & Brian Edwards. Food for Your Soul Catering provided a warm meal for event participants and Starbucks of
Saint Robert came through with coffee, tea, & snacks as well.
Salute to Summer Fundraising Event Makes an Impact for Veterans!
This event was huge success over the summer and was able to raise over $3,000 to help with the emergency financial needs of severely wounded veterans and families! This helps keep the electricity on for a veteran that may depend on it for medical needs, provides groceries for severely wounded veterans in need, fills up gas tanks so veterans can make it medical appointments, and driving their children to school.
