Veterans Day Parade and 2021 Veteran of the Year!
Veterans Day is observed on November 11th. At Fort Wood Hotels, we believe it is important to show appreciation and honor our members of the military, both past, and present. Veterans Day is a special day to celebrate and honor our American Hero's for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve. The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce hosts a Veteran's Day Parade and also chooses and honors a Veteran of the Year right before the parade. Johnnie is a retired Sergeant First Class with the U. S. Army and a native of Florida. After joining the Army in 1985, Johnnie attended basic training here at Fort Leonard Wood. Throughout his military career as a 92 Yankee, Johnnie was stationed throughout the world, to include two tours to Germany, two tours to Korea, Fort Jackson, SC, and Irvine, CA, ending his career where he started, in Missouri. He retired at Fort Leonard Wood on November 30th, 2006. He prides himself on the time he spent in the Army, especially between 2001-2004, when he was a Senior Drill Sergeant, helping to mold future leaders.
Wanting to remain an active member of the military community, Johnnie came a DA Civilian in 2008, and is currently serving as the Housing Manager for DPW Housing Division. When he isn't working, you can find Johnnie volunteering and giving back to the community. He is an active member of the Waynesville Lodge #375, where he has served as Post Master, and is currently the their Treasurer. Since 2009, Johnnie has volunteered at the Fort Leonard Wood USO, where he has become a regular fixture, putting in over 1,300 hours and showing no signs of slowing down!
It is his passion for the military, and for helping others that drives Johnnie to give back to his community. By volunteering countless hours, he is able to connect and lead others to greatness, always putting others first. A true sign of a great leader!

Veterans' Day Parade & Ceremony
November 11th, 2021 11am
The Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. before parade. The Parade will form at the City of St. Robert Municipal Center Parking Lot and will start after the ceremony and will go from the Municipal Center, turn right on Missouri Ave., turn left onto Old Rt. 66, turn around at the Church of God and then end at the St. Robert Community Center.2021 Veterans of the Year - Johnnie Bryant!
