Missouri is turning 200 years old this summer and Missourians all across the state are gearing up in celebration of our great state! Read on to learn more!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROJECTS

Community engagement projects that bring together Missourians from across the state in shared endeavors to commemorate the Missouri Bicentennial.

Bicentennial Time Capsule

Saint Louis Ambassadors and the State Historical Society of Missouri are partnering together to create the Missouri Bicentennial Time Capsule.

Organizations and institutions, businesses, as well as local and state government agencies in Missouri are invited to participate by contributing three items: one to represent your past, one to represent your present, and a note to future Missourians. Items should measure no larger than 8.5 x 14 inches – i.e. no larger than legal size paper – and combined be no more than a quarter-inch thick.

Complete the online contribution HERE.

Missouri Bicentennial Mural

In commemoration of the Missouri Bicentennial, juried Best of Missouri Hands artists Aaron Horrell and Barb Bailey will assist thousands of Missourians across the state in painting a large composite aluminum panel mural featuring Missouri state symbols, including but not limited to the State Capitol building, State flag, and St. Louis Gateway Arch. Horrell and Bailey will travel panel pieces across Missouri in 2020 and 2021, providing as many people as possible – of any age or any ability – the chance to participate in painting the mural. The goal is for the final painting to have a permanent home in a state office building in Jefferson City, where it can be enjoyed for generations to come.
